With the Soul of a Lion – The King of Wands

Today I drew the final King to complete my collection. First came the King of Swords, with his analytical and objective mindset, shortly followed by the calm self-assurance of the King of Cups, then they were joined by the hardworking and conscientious King of Pentacles and last but not least, the King of Wands made his grand entrance. In a monarchy, the King is the supreme ruler of his society who is responsible for maintaining the welfare and happiness of the inhabitants of his kingdom. Because of this, Kings represent success, expressed by their position, power and social responsibility. And in the Tarot they represent an outward mastery of their suit.

The King of Wands, being of the suit linked to fire, represents a strong minded individual, who is both creative in his approach to life, and inspiring in his relation to others. He belives in himself above all else, knowing that his methods are best, and it is this firm belief in himself that grants him such power. He is an incredibly charismatic person, inspiring others to follow his lead, and like a magnet, attracting people to him with no effort on his part. He has a deep respect for others and knows how to bring the best out of them, empowering them to succeed in whatever they pursue. He is forceful when pursuing his own goals, never balking at a challenge or risky endeavour, with such a commanding presence, naturally taking centre stage wherever he goes, and carries his authority with a natural grace and a bold and daring strength.

A Birthday Blessing

Today is my birthday 🎉, and instead of doing a daily card I decided that I would give myself a bigger challenge and in turn learn a little more about myself and the year to come. So I popped over to Little Red Tarot, my go to for all things tarot related and decided that I would do Beth’s New Years Spread, for your birthday is truly the beginning of a personal New Year 😃. And as you can see Cosmo decided he would like to help out 😊

Birthday Reading

While there are 10 cards in the picture above this is actually a 5 position spread. Beth constructed it with the interactions between cards in mind, how their energies support each other or if they show any tension/conflict.

As Sturdy as an Oak, as Driven as a Dragon – The King of Pentacles

A King here, a King there, everywhere I turn a King. And today is no different, for who came to visit, why the King of Pentacles of course 🤗.

So far in my daily draws a third of my cards have been Kings! Tuesday last week it was the King of Swords, and only two days ago the King of Cups came to say hello. So why so many Kings? I don’t really have a lot of adult masculine energy in my life, nor work in a masculine dominated environment. And as much as I wish, I don’t have a lot of men interested in me at the moment 😝. So what else could this be saying? Well the King’s are the apex of their suit, they are the master’s of the energies represented by their symbol, so I believe this is reflective of something powerful happening in my life, that I am in the process of mastering or seeking control over some of the qualities they reflect. Learning that it is okay to be objective and detached in situations that require it, but also that I am a very emotionally attuned person and that with a little more mastery and understanding I will prosper. But what has the King of Pentacles come to teach me?

The Serene Majesty of Calm Assurance – The King of Cups

Up until today the only time I had drawn a card from the Suit of Cups was in my interview with the Shadowscapes Tarot. To me this seemed quite odd, being such an emotional person I was expecting more to come up. Not only expecting, I was also hoping for more. But I guess if I think about what has been happening in my life it makes sense that so many Swords have shown their faces and few Cups have appeared at all. Anyway, enough mind babble, here is the card I drew this morning…

Before I get into the card I first want to say that these daily draws are first and foremost learning opportunities for me. With some cards like the Seven of Wands and the Three of Swords a post comes easily, but with others it seems a lot harder. This is one of those times. So I’m really just going to jot down my thoughts and strive for some meaning here.

The first thing that came to me when I saw this card was how serenely majestic this King looks as he floats there gazing into the Seahorse’s eyes, as if looking directly into his soul. It is like he has become one with the ocean and all of its inhabitants. I just want to jump into the card and let the King’s calming energies cleanse my entire being!

A Veil of Ravens – The King of Swords

Last night, I went to the cinema and saw a beautiful movie based on Tim Conigrave’s memoir entitled ‘Holding the Man’. Being the emotional empath I am I knew it was going to eventuate in me in the cinema blubbering away while trying to hold as much composure as I could. To give you a little background, in 2012 I was in my last year of Drama School and was lucky enough to do a reading of ‘Holding the Man’ for the State Theatre Company of South Australia. I was given the role of Timothy. As soon as I read the play I felt a deep connection to the subject matter, so I knew how much of an impact seeing the movie was going to have. This morning when I woke up I felt quite emotionally drained, both from the movie and the fact that I got a little stuck in thoughts after it about what had been happening in my life over the last five months. This nearly stopped me from picking up my cards for my daily draw, but I held fast and picked up my deck (secretly hoping for a nice calming card such as The Star or something of the sort) and drew.  And what did I receive, why the King of Swords of course 😛
