So for those of you who aren’t in Australia, today is a public holiday! Normally I would be quite excited by this fact however I unfortunately have to work today 😭. But, seen as it is my birthday tomorrow (hooray) the guys from work and I are heading out tonight for dinner and drinks, and maybe even some Karaoke 😃. So when I awoke today I was filled with a happiness that comes from knowing your evening is going to be filled with the loving energies of those who are dear to you 😊. And when I drew my card for today I was pleasantly surprised to see the Six of Cups 😃.
The Six of Cups traditionally stands for goodwill, innocence, childhood memories, and generosity. There is so much strife in the world, so much so that it is often hard to see the goodness. But it is there, and that is what the Six of Cups represents. Those moments of simple goodness, the small gestures of kindness that often go unnoticed, but are all the more important for it. The Six also suggests that sometimes it is helpful to look back at the times when we have felt happy, that by doing so during the harder moments in life, we may feel inspired and reassured that whatever trials lay in the future, we will overcome them, just as we did in the past.
When I think of the Six of Cups, especially when picturing the Shadowscapes interpretation, I think of Happy Memories. And in turn I think of a childhood movie I used to watch so very often called Hook, based on Peter Pan. In this movie the ‘lost boys’ had an ability where they could fly using the energy that they got from their happy memories 😊. This is how I feel when I think back to happy times, it’s a sort of lightness that infuses through every part of your body.
When I saw this card this morning I couldn’t help but think of the dinner table this evening. There are 8 or so of us going, and it will be an evening of laughter and joy, which is what I feel seeping out of his card.
The girl at the table is enjoying the company of her friends from home, as well as those of the woods. This is representative of a mind that is not yet chained by the societal boundaries that get contructed as we age. Those ‘what must be’s’ and ‘that’s not right’ and ‘don’t be silly’. In her mind the fish are able to swim through the air as well as the water, her plush toys are just as alive as she is, and she has no fear of the denizens of the forest. This is not meant to be seen as a fantasy, or sentimentality, but a suggestion that sometimes it is best to look at a situation with the open-mindedness of a child. That if we pushed aside the walls that are built as we grow older we may just notice something that otherwise would stay hidden.
So today I’m going to enjoy myself, and enjoy the company of my friends around me. Im going to tackle the day with a carefree attitude, be playful and bask in the happiness that occurs when we share our love and happiness with those around us.
And I might even sing a song about it tonight 🤗.
Until next time, live well and awaken that inner child xx
